After jump start, hell broke loose

Okay, here is the situation.

Had to get a jump start this morning. Only had this truck for 2 weeks. It is a 2008 F-150 XLT 4x4.

After getting jumped and started, noticed the 4x4 was locked in 4lo. Did a reset on that to get it back into 2wd. All is fine.

But, now the cruise control does not come on and neither does my radio. They are dead.

Does a jump start screw things up this bad all the time? Never, ever had such an problem with my '97 F-150.

Any suggestions?

What do you mean ". Did a reset on that to get it back into 2wd" ?

Did you charge the battery yet with a battery charger, not the alternator ?
The alternator is not for charging that dead of a battery.

Well, it would not switch to either 4hi or 2wd by the normal way of putting the trans into neutral. The service manager at the dealership said that I needed to do a reset. He said I had to back up at least 10 feet, then put the trans in neutral, switch it to 4hi, pull forward and then switch it to 2wd. That worked.

Strange, I know. Just telling you what he said to do to get it out of being stuck in 4lo.

As for the battery, yes, it is on charge. All of the fuses check fine.

This was the procedure from years gone by. Not sure why, but see question below.

It is on a charge, or had been charged when you had the symptoms ?

Stere wise...Don't know if this is the same thing that happened here.. Hope not for the OP's sake but... A friend of mines wife has an 06 Explorer.. Well she helped jump start a co-worker's car one day and same thing happened to her.. Her stereo stopped working, " same HU we have" she took it to a dealer after her husband found no blown fuses and it turned out she blew the HU and needed a new one.. Hope this isn't the case for you.

^^ So you think it's possible the jump start fried the radio in a similar way like what happens when a computer or electronic device gets ruined in a power surge/outage? That would suck.

As long as it worked, doesn't matter to me how long gone the proceedure was.

All of the problems started right after the jump start. The battery was not placed on a charge until I got home from work that evening. The 4lo problem was corrected before the battery was placed on charge. After the battery was fully charged (I let it charge all night), the radio started working again, but the cruise control is still out. I do notice a clicking sound now when the brake is pressed, that wasn't there before all this started.

If they made a truck that fries things doing a basic thing like a jump start, they really better get their heads out of their ***.

That could be the deactivation switch at the top of the brake pedal ( this is not the brake pedal position / shift interlock switch ).

Fuse # 14 -> Light Blue w/ Pink stripe wire to the deactivation switch to the Black w/ yellow stripe wire to the PCM.

When the brake pedal is pressed, the switch is opened, so the PCM does not have + VDC on the BPS input, when the brake pedal is up, the PCM has + VDC on the BPS input.

Start by checking Fuse #14 with a meter on both pins on the back of the switch and then check the deactivation switch at the top of the pedal ( only 2 wires to it ) with the meter, with the pedal up, there should be + VDC there.

If you replace the switch, do not press it prior to installing it, it is a self adjusting switch, and the 1st cycle adjusts it. If you do this with it not installed, just toss it in the trash, get another one. The self adjust will open too far, and not work in the position for the brake pedal.
