Any updated reviews for the Viper SmartStart?
I'm seriously considering the Viper SmartStart with my Droid X. I work for a Sheriff's Office so my truck can sometimes be on the opposite side of the county and it would be nice to park the patrol car and jump right into a warm truck.
Any updated reviews?
Are the bugs worked out?
I know some were complaining it wasn't working in the early hours. Every 2 months I work night shifts and get off at 5 am so I'll need it then too.
Just looking for opinions since Best Buy has it for $319 installed.
*I'm just looking for the remote start function, not interested in the alarm portion**

I know they still charge you about $50 a year for the service, plus if you or your truck is anywhere that doesn't get service, it won't work.
The SmartStart servers apparently go down every now and again, but I don't really know how much of a problem that is. I just went with the Viper 5701 system (remote start + alarm) and got it for $120 + installation. It's got something like a 2,000' range, plenty for what I need.
Also, as far as BestBuy's "included" installation, check if that includes the bypass module. I'll bet it doesn't, and BB will want to charge you extra for that (maybe as much as $100) and you'll like see some other "additional installation" hardware/equipment charges.
Just looked at their website and saw they at least tell you this up front:
