2003 Screw...auto door locks & OD Button

Got a 2003 4x4 SuperCrew. I recently noticed a few issues...not sure if they are related somehow but they all seamed to fail relatively at the same time.

1. Overdrive button on gear shift no longer functional. Cannot take truck out of over drive.

2. Auto door lock feature no longer functioning. The door lock button still works fine however the automatic locking feature after put in gear is no longer working.

3. Seat belt warning signal is no longer working.

Not sure if they are related but I seam to notice them all about the same time. I`m wondering if this could be only electrical, i.e. a fuse, or is their possibly a bigger issue?

Any help would be appreciated.

Toby

1. The over drive, did you check the fuse for it ?
- Cab fuse panel, fuse #29

2. The autolock,
- This is also Fuse #29 in the cab fuse panel, so

3. The seat belt minder, this is the same fuse as cab fuse panel fuse #29

With all 3 items having Fuse #29 in common, I am guessing that this fuse is blown.

The cause is usually the wires at the base of the gear shift tube are chaffed and causing it to blow. Need to check those wires, else you are going to be replacing the fuse, and it will blow again.

Thanks. I did a little searching and found several "wire chaffed" responses to the same issue. It makes sense as I recently had to repair the wiring harness connecting to the blinker/wiper/high beam switch for the same reasons.

Regarding the common fuse...I just new they all had to be related in some way but I could not get my dealership to even talk about it without a diagnostic fee.

Thanks for the feedback...looks like I gotta pull the column back apart.

Don't thank me until it is fixed, right now this is just a SWAG, at least until you check to see if that fuse is blown.

Check it with a meter, just to be sure.

Dealer, I cannot blame them, they are in business to make money, not give away free repair advice.
