remote as in factory RKE remote ?
Something tells me my '01 did the same thing as my 2006.
If while running you try to use the RKE remote ( or door lock button I know on my '06 ) to lock the doors, the door lock would cycle down, and back up to the unlocked position.
Had to manually press the lock button down to lock the door.
This is a SWAG, it has been almost 5 years since I tried it on my '01.
Hopefully a current 99-03 owner will give some current info on the MY range ( 97-98 had a different RKE unit, so it could be different than the 99-03 MY range )
