driving thru creek crossing caused temporary non-start condition
A few days ago, I drove thru a creek crossing. Didn't think I hit it that hard, but water did splashed on the windshield. Truck ran fine to my house, about 5 min drive. I shut it off and unloaded my gear. But later on, about 30 min., it wouldn't start/run. It started and ran for about 5 seconds and quit. I tried and tried to restart it but it would only crank; it might of tried to start twice in about 10-15 tries. I let it set overnight and the next morning it started just fine.
What happened? Did something get wet? I raised the hood the night before when it first acted up and it was not wet under the hood any where that I could see. What are all the connections on the frame just under the driver? It has a plastic box-looking cover over it/them.
I have hit bigger water stands at a higher speed than this on the main road. Just don't want it to happen again and put me in a jam. Could someone recommend a procedure to waterproof certain connectors that could cause this?

Probably water in the spark plug wells. Water in connectors won't hurt anything, so there's no point in trying to waterproof them. All the electronics under the hood are weather-resistant; the truck will run even if you drive slowly into a lake, until it sucks water into the air filter, or floods the cab enough to kill the PCM or PATS.
