Gauges

I have a 02 F-150 with the 4.2 V6. Sometimes when I start the engine my gauges all go over to the extreme right and then drop back to normal. Is this normal or do I have a problem? I would like to hear from anyone who has had this happen and is it something to be concerned with. Love this Forum.

That is an indication that the battery is on its way out. Need to replace it.

The gauge sweep is an indicator that the cluster has lost ( usable ) power and is resetting itself.

The other thing could be damaged / corroded battery ends, but usually this is a bad battery.

Start by checking the battery voltage, should be at least 12.6 VDC.
