Instrument cluster change.

I changed the instrument cluster on my 2001 Ford f150 5.4 Triton. The change stopped the flashing lights and flipping gauges, but now my truck cranks but will not start. I had the keys reprogrammed but it still won't start. Also I do not have a manual (owners , or repair) to get the codes the theft light is flashing out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If the theft light is flashing, the HEC has not been programmed with the new keys.

The RFID tags from the keys are stored in the HEC, which is part of the instrument cluster

Not sure what the problem was ( the descriptor is vague ) that caused you to swap the cluster, but you need to find someone to program the PATS system with the new keys.

The correct way with a new cluster is to do an erase of all previous keys, and follow the process for programming the new keys.

agreed you have a security issue with your truck, the cluster needs to be programed to the truck

Thank you. This is what I was needing to know. The tech that programmed my keys said he did not think they programmed. So I guess it is off to a Ford dealer.
