2010 Fog light bulbs

I have one fog light on my FX4 that is going bad. 9140 bulb not at part store yet. Is there any replacement bulb brighter than factory bulb? Thinking of doing headlight covers want something a little brighter.

Not sure why Ford uses 9140-H10 bulb in the fogs, I have yet to find one anywhere ( for my 2006 ) in the stores.

The H10 bulb type has 3 variations
9140 = 40 W
9145 = 45 W
9155 = 55 W

The safe one to run with the factory wiring is the 9145 bulb, when compared to the 9140.

The 9140 Bulb = 3.33 Amp
The 9145 Bulb = 3.75 Amp

The draw back to the 9145 bulb is the operating life is 1200 hours vs. 1500 hours for the 9140.

The remainder of the 9145 bulb the same as the 9140 bulb ( same glass tube size, same PY20d base, etc )

If you want a bit more usable lumen output from the 9145, you can get the Sylvania SilverStar bulbs, these are the same 45 W, but have a lower life span ( ~ 900 some odd hours ) due to the T4 glass tube changes to get the different color temp ( ~ 3800 to 4000 K range ) to change the slight yellow of a standard halogen to the white output.

If you really want the 9140 bulb, Rally Lights has the Phillips brand for ~ 14.00 + S/H

I would stay away from using 9155 bulbs in the socket, without doing at least a wiring upgrade ( 9155 draw 4.58 A each, which is ~ 30% more than factory setup ).
Even with the wiring upgrade ( external relay & 14 AWG wiring ) you have the issue of heat in the small housing.
The members that hack up things to make a 9000 series 55w bulb fit usually have shorter life span or melted lenses ( YMMV ).
