What to expect from DDM Tuning HIDS

Long story short, one of my HIDs bulbs (from xtralights.com) went out on me so I ordered a replacement bulb from that cost me $80 with shipping (could have bought a whole new kit from DDM). Now that I have the new bulb installed I can see that it doesn't match the passenger side bulb. The new one is pure white and the pass side has a slight blue tint to it. I'm thinking about returning the bulb and buying a kit from DDM but would like to know what to expect from there kits. I've heard stories that the kit needs to be connected directly to the battery, what is this about?

The ballast will act kind of like a relay; pulling power from the battery.
Maybe this will help you. It's the installation guide for H13 Hi/Lo.
I just ordered my kit from them, I have one kit already on my Yamaha R1 and could not be happier.

Unfortunately the 35W is on backorder until Oct. 20th.

No, a ballast does not act 'kinda like a relay'. Only a RELAY acts like a relay

OP - you should always install these crap kits with a relay harness - this ensures said crap kit has at least a hope in hell if getting the correct and reliable supply voltage to consitently fire the ballasts. The original bulb connector now will only act as a trigger.

Ok, u got me, the word I should have used is original line is a trigger, like you did...

OTOH, my current DDM kit on the R1 is perfect... but of course it had OEM projector headlights.
I can see how HID on OEM headlights could cause problems to incoming drivers, but you can take the time to re-adjust them...

I'm runinng DDM in my ZX10 but not my truck. The kit I have for the truck was much more expensive and since its expensive I deceided to just buy another bulb b/c if I return it then the kit itself is no good to me. Thank you guys for all your help

On this note, every DDM kit I've seen in person has bulbs which are several thousand K lower than they are supposed to be. (My 12K is whiter than other folks I know who are running 10K from other brands)

Interesting piece above. I was never interested into putting them in my truck until now but decided to just by a bulb from the HID company I've been dealing with for years. I buy from xtralights.com, while they are expensive I believe the product is quality. I do run the DDM's in my motorcycle but that's b/c I only get to ride that about 6 months out of the year
