LED Interior Lights
LED Interior Lights
Quick Question for you electrical guru people.
I recently installed a Clarion Overhead DVD Player with LED dome lights to my 2010 F150 Platinum which replaced the original dome light. Since the LED color was white and the map lights were yellow I decided to change the map lights to white LED's from superbrightleds.com
After changing the front map lights I notice that the LED's on the DVD player stay faintly lit at all times. When I replace a map light with the original bulb the problem is fixed.
I'm assuming the approx. 3500 ohms from the original bulbs are keeping the resistance in the circuit high and therefore not letting enough current to light the DVD LED's. Luckily, the battery saver feature shuts off all current to the circuit 10 minutes after closing the last door. This shuts off the DVD player LED's totally.
My question is should I wedge a 3.7K ohm resistor into the front map light socket along with the LED or should I allow this to continue? I'm wondering if I put a resistor in the map light will it heat up too much and prematurely burn out? Pros n cons....let me know...
Thanks!
