01 Ignition cylinder lock trouble

I have a 2001 F-150 Lightning. I accidentally placed the wrong key in the ignition and now my cylinder lock is stuck and won't turn with the key in it (the correct key).

What I've read is that I need to remove it and replace the lock cylinder. Everything states turning the switch to the "on" position and then pushing on the retaining pin and it will pop out. Great for those that can turn their switch, mine is stuck.

How do I remove it when it won't turn and once I remove it and replace it with a new lock cylinder, will it work with my key or is there something else I need to do?

I keep my truck in the garage all the time and that is where it will stay garaged if I can get this fixed (my attempt at humor in troubled times).
