DDM Tuning HID Trouble
DDM Tuning HID Trouble
Let me start by saying I have DDM Tunings HID kits in my ZX10R, my Toyota Venza, and now my F-150. They have really good hid kits with lifetime warranties and great customer service. In my 05 F-150 I have the 35W kit in the headlights and a 55W kit in the foglights. My headlights work great, but for some reason my driver side foglight will work fine for a while then all of a sudden it will go out. Then when you turn on the fogs it will flicker and go out. I now can't get it to do anything but flicker. I swapped the bulbs and they are fine so the problem is with the ballast or the wiring. This is the second ballast I've received from DDM so I don't think it is the ballast.
Do I need to be running a relay?

Are you using the stock wiring for the ballasts, if so, the wiring is too small to power them. You need a dedicated wiring kit with a relay. One of these: http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/HI...Wiring-Harness

I called DDM today and they said that I shouldn't need a harness with their ballasts. I swapped the ballast today with the one from the passenger side and found out that the ballast is bad. They sent me an RA number and said they will send me another one out.
Ok, that is why I'm on here, to take advice from you guys that have already had trouble and know.
I'll order the harness to go with my new ballast and hopefully I won't have anymore trouble.
Thanks for the help

Yeah, like I said I have them in all my vehicles and the f-150 is the first one I have had any trouble with. Their customer service is great and they send you replacements part out quick for free. If a bulb goes out, they replace both bulbs in the kit so the they match colors. Can't beat them.
For the price of the ballasts by themselves, you might as well get the entire kit. All the above post is saying is that they sell 4 colors as 7 different ones. Doesn't really say much as far as a compromise in quality. Just means if you get a 4500k or 5000k kit, you'll really get a 4700k kit, which in the end isn't too terrible as far as color.
