Starting trouble...

Long time lurker, first time poster...

I have a 2007 XLT and recently it's been having starting issues. It tries to start, then all but drops out, struggles to start, and finally turns over. It doesn't make a cranking sound, just stutters as it starts.

I had the battery tested and everything came back fine. I took it to 2 different places, and both had issues testing the alternator. Neither could read any current as it was trying to start.

Any advice on what the problem might be? The Autozone guy suggested a problem with the wiring/grounding at the alternator... does that make sense to anyone?

Thanks!
