Howdy all! New to the site. Got HID questions?

Hello everyone. I just joined the site. And so far so good on great info.
Anyway.... Got a couple HID questions that I'm sure a lot of people have already had. But I need some details.
My bi/HID's are have some problems. 2004 f150 supercrew 4x4. Since I've had the hid's the driver side headlight keeps going out. Usually it comes on when I unlock the doors with the fob,, but if I give it enough time for the lights to turn off it won't come back on. I heard it was the harness and I needed a relay with a heavier harness. So I ordered one and it should be here in a couple days. But does it replace the HID harness? Or the trucks harness? My HID harness has a small sealed black box that is in between the two headlights. Not sure what it is. I assumed it was something for the hi/lows...?? Will the new one have this box? And is it even important?
Also I need to do the Bambi mod as well. My fog lights don't work right since I go the new headlights. They if I turn the driving lights on. The HID's go to high beam. And the high beam indicator is lighting up very dim.
Ford told me that the truck has a computer behind the dash cluster and the lights are messing with it. And it could short something out. That computer controls the lights and dash and a couple other things. (so they say). What do you all think?

Does anybody know if the Bambi mod will compleatly fix my fog light issue? And what about the relay harness? Do y'all know if that will fix the headlight problem?

The fog lamp part sounds like the problem that happens with HIDs, so that should cure the problem. You are going to have to do the modification and see if that it is.

As for the HID questions, got me don't know what kit you have, and I am not familiar with any of the kits really.

I purchased the hid kit from this site. http://www.futurevisionhid.com/

I was reffered to these guys from a friend. they have good costomer service and they warranty the system. And i think i found the answer to my own question... I just checked the companies web site and entered my vehicle type and they put a disclaimer on the vehicle.... it said that this kit needs a bigger wiring harness. It said that without the harness the lights will flicker and the driver side light wont come on durring power up.
But i actually read this info on here first. So i give the F-forum all the credit! HAHAH

Ok.... So I've got problems.... I've been working on it for days now... I NEED HELP! I put in the new relay harness for the HID's and it did change a few things. But, now I don't have the high beams anymore. And the driver side head light still isn't coming on!!! I know it's not burnt out. And the ballast is fine. (I have spares and I tried them.) the light came on a couple times after I put on the harness. But then I stopped coming on again. So the 12 bucks got my headlights to work for 20 minutes! I'm frustrated... Don't know what to do. I re-checked all my grounds. Checked all plugs. Im almost positive that everything is work ok... I think the truck is keeping the one headlight from turning on! Any help???

Is this how the relay is installed ?

If so, the problem is with the HID kit, or your install, not the truck. The relay is triggered by a single low beam circuit, which should power both ballasts.

The harness will only go in one way. Its kinda dumby proof. Im thinking over it in my head and im kinda thinking that the truck is confused because the other side of the headlight harness (stock) isnt hooked up. The truck ultimatly thinks there is a problem. And there is a voltage loss from the passenger side to the driver side. Does the truck need to have both hooked up to work properly?

It shouldn't (your other headlight wouldn't work if you ever got a burnt bulb.)

Have you checked to see you are getting voltage to that side of the harness when you turn on the headlights?

What about when there is a significant power loss from one balast to the other?

Your right... But the truck is obviously thinking something is wrong? Wouldnt the system work better if they collected thier own seperate power??? Instead of running one off the other? Maybe it would be better to explain what ive actually got and what the harness changed... Hang on

I have the same problem that most everybody on here has. My driver side head light only works when it wants to. The high beam indicator comes on dim when i turn on the driving lights. And the driving lights were working backwards of the stock operation.
I ordered a relay harness and installed it... it made the driving lights work fine... but i lost my hi beams and the driver side light still doesnt come on. Well?? kind of??? it does when it wants to. If i turn the switch on and off two dozen times,,, it will turn on 5 times out two dozen. So it only works when it wants to. I checked and changed all grounds and rechecked all connections. In the big realm of things... The relay harness made my problem worse. But im not sure that the harness is for a hi low kit. It says it is.. But i dunno? Never seen the other harness. Any ideas? Im at a loss. Im gonna take everything off the truck and start over from scratch. Just to see if i missed something.
