Faulty lamp or is there another issue?

My rear turn signal was burnt out so I replaced it last night, tested my signal and it worked. Started my truck this morning and now it doesn't work again. Before I go out a buy another lamp, is there something I can check to make sure there's not another problem somewhere? As a little extra FYI my lamp blew the first time I tried to use my remote starter this year.

TIA.

Use a meter or test light in the bulb socket, and check the pins on what you are after ( parking lamp or stop / turn lamp ).
