2002 foglights
2002 foglights
Got a 2wd that was not equipped with foglights and im wanting to put in OEM foglights and was wondering since the harness runs down there is it as easy as putting in a ne headlight switch with the foglight button and putting in the lights or is there gonna be alot more to it....
I cannot recall what the level of completion is on the 2002 trucks, as MY to MY ( and trim level dependent ) Ford changed what was and was not included.
If you found the bulb connectors up behind the front bumper, quick test is to jumper the normally open contacts in the fog lamp relay socket ( diagram below ) and install a fuse in the fog lamp position BJB ( aka Battery Junction Box, Engine Compartment fuse panel ) Fuse # 9 15A.

If this works, next is check that the switch is wired for fog lamps, and make sure the wire is complete to the BJB.
The wires you are looking for on the back of the main headlamp switch are the yellow and the White w/ black stripe wires.
If these wires are there, install a fuse in CJB ( aka Central Junction Box, cab fuse panel ) fuse #27 5A, and jumper the white w/ back stripe to the yellow wire on the headlamp connector. This should put power to the fog lamp relay in the BJB on pin #1. Check that pin #2 is ground prior to using this to test for power with ( continuity setting on your meter, check to the battery neg post ).
If all that tests good, you have the compete wiring and can purchase and install a new switch, and relay along with the fog lamps.
If not, the easy route to use the factory switch is to add the wire to the connector c246 pin #2, and use this to power a relay and make your own harness.
