Inop running lights & panel lights

1989 F-150. 4.9L, 5spd. Standard cab, 8' box.

Shortly after the truck was purchased new the factory radio was replaced and eventually died. No sounds for several years.

Flash forward to last week. Installed a new Sony. Radio is happy, but I've lost running lights (front & rear) and panel lighting. As the panel lights had become somewhat intermittent, (& taking a wild guess), I decided to change the headlight switch. That was fun. Took about an hour and a half and set me back $16. No change.

I have been unable to locate a shop manual that provides more than a schematic & wire color for the audio, nothing more. There are 2 wires left over: orange/black stripe and white/green stripe.

The truck was manufactured in Nov '88. There were some minor changes made to trucks built after March '89, but it is an '89 model.

Help!!!

An older edition of Haynes will have all the wiring diagrams.

.

Did you inspect the h/l connector? It's common for them to burn out the terminal for the dash & marker lights.
