Anti-theift disarms, cranks but won't start
Hope someone can help. Has left me on the road twice (cranks but won't start). First week I could lock and unlock in 2 or 3 different sequences and it would finally start OK, after about a week, it would not . Towed in and the shop ran diagnostic -- no indication of any thing wrong, except they blown fuse in unrelated circuit(windshield wipers). Said they used remote entry fob to "reprogram" thus: Sit in seat with doors unlocked, operate ignition key switch 5 times, locks automatic lock then unlock on the 5th time; then lock and unlock with the fob. Truck started several times then and the following day, locking and unlocking the doors, then stopped (towed again). The ignition key sequence still locks and unlocks and fob still works the locks, but won't disarm the "start interlock". Shop wants to start changing out expensive modules. Wiring information in the Ford and other books I have are incomplete and/or contradictory (lousy). Think interlocking the ignition(and probably the fuel delivery) must be done via the data link through the PCM(?)-- and I believe it's a bad design concept (wife could have been left in a bad place). I'm willing to giveup all the anti thieft features and the remote fob to get rid of the start interlock. Would appreciate any ideas. Thanks, Doug

Sounds to me like there is a bad chip inside the key. Have you tried your second key? If you are like me, it is on my wifes key chain and she never uses it!</font>

Thanks for the response, but this one just uses regular plain metal keys (door and ignition).
Anyone know if damage if I disconnect Data Link between say LCM and PCM so no signals are transmitted?
Thanks,
Doug
