Earlier post on installing tach. Would like one on my 99F250LD 4.6L'

AutoMeter did not have info. on 99, cause ignition change was made, said they dont have the technology to make there tachs. work on my engine

One post mentioned the tach. wire being there, guess id have to pull the dash gauge panel out to see it the tach wire is there?

Can get the complete gauge panel with tach. from FORD, but it an OEM replacement with no install instructions. and even parts guy could get no info what so ever about how to install if no tach. wire there???

Anyone trying to install on 99 model? Sometimes newer aint always better, yeah I know, should a got the XLT, HA

Hey Old Timer, I have a '98 F-150 and on the back of the gauge cluster there was a white W/pink stripe wire. That was my Tach wire. I installed a SunPro 2 5/8" Tach in my truch works great. What I had to do was connect the Tach and with a prob connected to the sending wire test each connection till the tach was working then just connected it up. I'll try and get some pics up this weekend of the job.

Guess ill be pulling the dash panel in my truck to see if tach. wire there, probably go thru what you did?

Still confused cause AutoMeter said their tach. want work on my 99 ign. system. Gut feeling on this aint good, if Autometer cant do it, hmmmmmmmmm?? Plus awhole lot cheaper than a FORD OEM dash with tach, close to 400.00 ouch. HA

Guess thats my mext project. Just installed Superchip, still learning about it.
