passive alarm system

Hey all. I need a question answered. Does the passive alarm system go off when they break into the car? They broke into my 06 F-150 Lariat by breaking the drivers side lock. Shouldn't have the alarm sounded?

Passive Antitheft System ( PATS ) means the truck cannot be hot wired.

It is only an ignition immobilization system, nothing else.

Section in the owners manual explains the function.

Thanks Sscully. So what would you recommend? I am going to disengage the rod on the key and replace the cylinder. It has a keypad and remote. Is this a good idea?

There are Jummi Jamers. I know 2 members here installed them, don't know if this is how they got in or not.

There is a thread in the technical Articles forum on it, if memory serves me correctly.
