From what I understand, it's up inside the latch mechanism itself... try working it back and forth by hand as well (i.e. throw the latch by hand and then pull the handle to open it again).

Just stick the tube in wherever you can and spray the hell out of it. You have to really flood it to get the wd40 into the switch. The switch is supposed to be underneath the latch.

On my 97 F-150 Lariat, I sprayed lots of
WD-40 into the portion of the frame that the plastic arm, attached to the door, goes into.
This has solved the problem for about a year now.

Yup, it's good stuff, but I found something better a while back. It's not all that easy to find. It's made by Justice Brothers and it's called JB-80. A squirt of this stuff has un-stuck things that a whole can of WD40 has failed at. It's a bit thicker than WD40.

The best rust preventative lube that I have found yet is Corrosion Block. It's also dielectric.

Friend of mine took a big (ocean) wave over the bridge of his (very expensive) boat. Flooded out his (cheap) VHF radio. He rinsed the radio out with fresh water and sprayed the guts with a whole $14 spray can of Corrosion Block. Radio worked like new for years after.
