I have a CB radio from my previous truck (Ranger)I'd like to install, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of room under the dash to hang one.

Question for all of you that have CBs in your F series, where do you mount them???

Hey the only place I could fit my Ranger ( It's a big friggen radio) is behind my seat on the back wall. I have a 5 speed and it's too big to go in front of the stick.

Eventually I'll swap out my bench for some buckets just to get a center console to mount a radio in front of

I got a '97 F150 with captain chairs, and installed it in the center console. I took the tape holder sliced the sides out, so the CB would fit, and bolted the bracket to it. I also installed a scanner the same way. You lose so storage of tapes, but it hides the CB.

 

I HAVE MINE IN FRONT OF THE STICK,I HAVE A COBRA 25 NIGHT WATCH.I HAVE ALSO MOUNTED ONE ,FOR A FRIEND,TO THE FRONT OF THE CENTER CONSOLE(THAT WAS ON AN AUTOMATIC)I AM NOT SURE IF THERE IS ROOM OR NOT. JUST USE TRIAL AND ERROR. FOR THE FRONT OF THE CONSOLE YOU WILL NEED TO BEND THE MOUNTING BRACKET A LITTLE, FOR FORM.NOT TO HARD THOUGH. HOPE THAT HELPS YOU OUT........

I installed mine with double side 3M tape just below the power point and ash tray. I just plug it into the power point when I need to use it. Didn't want to drill any holes into my truck.

I'm going to mount one in my truck... if I use the Uniden full size, I'm going to mount it on the front of the center console (Captain's chairs). If I get the remote mount, I might use that in the Probe and the truck.

My buddies dad made me a nice wooden stand that sits on the center hump. I did slide a little, so I put some hook and loop fastners (just the plastic, not the fabric) on the legs and voila!...no more movement. I love it! I told him he should take orders or something. He is now retired and moved to Florida, so I'm sure he has plenty of time to do it. He wasn't interested...just wanted to loaf around now that he is retired.

harleyguy, I'm 6' 8", I can't imagine NOT banging my knee REPEATEDLY at that location, LOL. I'm looking at building a custom center console for mine with room for light switches, my CB radio, my large desk police scanner, my pistol, and a few other cool things... that will take a while though .

Hey, Matt, before you build one, take a look at the Galls catalog. They sell those types of pedestal mounts for police and emergency vehicles. They might have just what you're looking for. I think the site is www.galls.com but I'm not positive.
