Post Bright lights

Does anyone know how to turn the brights on/off on a '86?? i turned my truck on one night and the brights were on and i dont know how to get them off! any help?

There should be a relay under the hood.... try pulling it. I suspect either the switch or the relay is sticking. Let us know what you find.

Are you asking where the switch is for Hi/Low beam is? It's an old fashioned foot switch. The button is up high to the left of the brake pedal on the firewall sort of under the parking brake pedal as I recall.

I just ran out there and looked for a pedel, and i couldnt find one.. i will look again but, only seen 4 petels.. Gas, Brake, Clutch, And parking break. I did do some figiting with the radio before the were on and accedently pulled out the three wires, not in the speaker bundle but the other..could that be a probalem.. cause i dont know if they all got in the right place.. the radio does work though!! thank you! -John

I loved those little foot switches - they were so easy to use. It'd be nice if they still used them.

Yup. Not only that, but I can't recall ever hearing about one of those switches ever failing.

OOPS! I missed the "on" part of the question, and the fact it was an 86... yeah, the foot switch. If it ever goes bad, any auto parts store sells them for 5 or 6 bucks.
