Efan help

I finished installing efans in my 01 Screw. The problem I am having is that they won't turn off unless I pull the temperature probes out of the radiator. As soon as they touch the radiator, the fans come on immediately.
It was actually only doing it to one fan until I tried diagnosing the problem myself, and now it does it to both.

Here is how it is wired:
yellow to switched ignition source (fans turn off when the key is off)
green to AC clutch relay (only one of two controllers)
black to ground
red fused to one wire of the motor
red power from motor to battery
temperature probe pushed into radiator

What am I missing?

The controllers are adjusted all the way down. I actually had one of them adjusted and working perfectly, but the other would not turn off. After screwing around with it, neither fan works correctly now. If I pull the temperature probe out of the radiator and hold it in my hand, the fan turns off. Same symptom for both fans. Also, coolant temperature was about 110.
Using Troyer fans. Gonna give 'em a call tomorrow.

If you had them adjusted all the way down, they would turn on at the drop of a hat.

Try turning them up ( if you have not backed the adjusting screw out too far already ).

I have adjusted them both ways. they are adjustable from 160 to 240 deg. Right now, they are set at the highest and they still come on. The truck was sitting all night, and the temp said 90 deg. this morning. They came on immediately.

Hello.

What's your skill level? Can you "bench-test" (either in the truck or on an actual bench, lol) the controllers? All you need is 12 vdc, a 12 bulb or test light, a glass of ice water and a glass of warm water (this is just to establish min/max controller thresholds. Oh - and a cold wobbly-pop would not hurt.

Should be real easy to discern whether or not the controllers are pooched or not.

Be advised - and this has been discussed many times, and is in (or was, in mine) the controller docs - that pot has a ZERO TOLERANCE for over-travel ( that's what SScully was referring to above). Go past the limits either way, and the pot is done and the controller is pookered. These are instumentation pots and require a VERY, VERY light touch to adjust.

Do one controller at a time. Similarly, go over every single connection of your system to eliminate any change of installer error. You need to isolate / break down / the entire system into it's constituent parts and test each to find the culprit.

Call TP for aditional advice and controller swap if required.

Good luck,

MGD

The fans are functioning correctly now. My controllers function on a ground switching circuit rather than turning the voltage on and off. The circuit was being turned on every time the temperature probes touched the radiator (doesn't make a whole lot of sense since the radiator is aluminum).

I did all the checks on the controllers and wiring and could not find a problem with them. Tested the voltage and current flowing in and out of the controllers, they weren't the problem. The temperature probes were faulty. I reversed the direction specific plug on the probes and voila, everything is normal.
