Post alarm problems

My '98 5.4 4wd has factory alarm & keyless remote. For several months, the alarm goes off (panic mode, flashing headlamps etc) at odd times ALL BY ITSELF - 4 am when everyone is asleep, the trucks locked in my garage and the alarm isn't even set (doors are unlocked) - anyway, something is triggering the panic mode and I don't know what - it's done it away from home too, when it was locked - it's starting to become a nuisance - any ideas ?

Just a hunch......What are your Key FOBs doing at those times? Are they under your pillow or is the dog/cat sleeping on your coat with the keys in the pocket? Take the batteries out of them and see if it occurs again. I hope your neighbors don't have a remote that will trigger it!

The remote is not in my pocket when this happens. It's sitting on the table with nothing but thin air around it. I suspect something is transmitting in my frequency.

I'll try switching remotes for a while.

I figure I'm not the only one with this problem, just solicitng ideas.

I too have a 98 with the alarm going off on it's own at random intervals (once a week-10 days) for no reason. Key fobs are usually out of range when it happens at work, but I just started leaving one by the front door to shut it off in the middle of the night...

Just had her in for service but the dealer failed to find a cause, and no codes are left behind on that.

Are they temperature, moisture or sound sensitive? Is there any adjustment?

If *anyone* has *anything* on this, please email as I'm closing in on the 36k mile loss of bumper-to-bumper warantee.

TIA,

I could have something to do with the door-ajar/dome light problem elsewhere in this forum.

Question

I have a 98 with a Viper alarm,it did this very thing. I was alone at home, the alarm set and the keys on the table 5 feet away from me. No pets, yet. I was out by the truck, and just walking through the back door. when it just went off. It didn't give the four warning chirps before the siren started either. It hasn't done it since(three weeks ago was the first time) wierd,,,,98
