DOOR AJAR
My door ajar light is remaining on which will not allow the doors to lock automatically. Could someone tell me where the contacts are located that controls this light, and what to do to take care of this problem.
The switches are in the doors on the latch. Most post I have read about this problem say to spray WD-40 inside the latches wherever you can find a way to get it in there. This will usually restore the connections for quite a while.

My 98 Lariat 5.4, Auto, loaded, just started the same thing, i have yet to figure the cure for this, i dont know about spraying the contacts with wd, but as soon as i figure this one out, ill let you know.
Well? Have you guys tried the WD-40 solution? If you took your truck to the dealer, that's what they would do first. Some use brake cleaner spray.
The contact in the door latch gets dirty and causes this problem. Spraying the lube/cleaner flushes away the dirt and allows the contact to close properly.

Hi Black,
You don't have to remove the door panel to clean the mechanism. Just stick the snorkle (tube) into the latch mechanism and soak it. Operate the latch a few times while you do it.
As far as taking the panel off, just go to the aftermarket section and you'll find detailed descriptions and maybe even pictures and links to pictures of guys who replaced the speakers in their doors.
