Exclamation Door Chime/Dome Light Troubles

1997 f-150XL 4x2 Supercab 3dr - Periodically, and more time than not now, the doorchime stays on along with the dome light even after the doors are shut. When the car is off and keys in it continues. With the car off and keys out, thedome light stays on. The only remedy is pulling the fuse. The wipers then do not work. Sometime I can et it back to normal after it has sat for some time. Then , I put the fuse back it. My brothers 96 Mazada (Ranger) has had the same problem. the dealer says they fixed it...twice. Anyone with a solution?

I'm having same problem on f-150 1997, I was told it is the door switch, I just bought one but am having trouble installing it. can anyone give me the step by step on how to get it out? if not for the linkage from the door handle i could get it out. even after unbolting the door latch (the switch it attached to latch) i could not get it close enough to the hole to remove the switch. as for the switch how does it come out, i did not see a clip ring, does it twist in place?

I am having the same problem with my 1997 F-150. The comments in the postings for DOOR AJAR sound familiar too. Their suggestions to use WD-40 sounds like a plan.
