Windows on 2004 F150 Not Working

Windows on my 2004 Lariat do not work.......they do not work on any of the doors. When you press one of the buttons the light on the rear defrost button comes on and the light on the window buttons go out, when you let off the defrost light goes off and the window button lights come back on. If the doors are open and you press on any window button or the rear defrost button the interior lights (dome and map) slowly dim until they are completely off, let off the button and they come back on. I've checked the 30 Amp fuse and it is okay, plus the sliding rear window and moonroof are on the same fuse and are working just fine. I also took the switch from the driver side door out of a friends and hooked it up in mine just to see if maybe that was the problem and it still didn't work. PLEASE HELP.....NEED IDEAS.......TEMP IS AVG 90 DEG HERE AND IT IS NO FUN WHEN THE WINDOWS DON'T WORK!!

Probably the motors are sticking. Tap pretty hard on the bottom of the door with a rubber mallot while trying to roll that window down.

If the light dims, there's power being drawn by something. Try it and see what develops.

Might want to test each window, you could have a problem with a window causing the issue.

It seems you have either a large current draw, or a problem with an intermittent short to ground.

Do you still have the same problem with the doors closed ?

Sounds like it could be a problem in the a-pillar to door wiring with a crimped wire.

Passenger and driver side windows had been squeaking for a while before this happened. The motor in the driver side window went out a couple of years ago and it squeaked before it went out......after it went out though the rest of the windows still worked just fine.

Mine has been doing the same thing. I cut the rubber boot on the door edge and found a broken ground wire. I spliced it and tested the windows and everything works now.
