I got tired of trying to find the cup holder at 70 in the dark. I went to radio shack and got 2 12 volt lights (cat. No. 276-085A) Requires a 13/64" hole. I taped into the ash tray light power and ground.

With the lights off.


With the lights on. You can only see the one you need.



Total cost depending on if you have the connectors.
$3.98 plus tax.
also need:
2 short sections of wire
2 bullet connector (male and female so that the cup holder can be removed)
2 in-line splicers (to connect into the ash tray light)

Pretty neat trick.

 

Most excellent idea...I kept thinking about doing the same thing when I had my Ranger since the cup holder where so darn far away and dark at night time.
Offer different colors and make a kit, you won't get rich, but I'd might be fun to see your product being used.

Thats pretty cool! But don't they allready have lights? I can see light poking through those little holes (behind that rubber thing on the rim)...

No mine was real dark at night. I just checked it out in the dark and there are little slots under the bumpers but mine are so far down that I can't see the light at all.

Great idea...now, if only the cup holders were deep enogh to actually hold a drink in place under accelration and braking. Ford cupholders really are a stupid design,,,they are too shallow and too wide to hold anything securely. Rant over...excellent light idea

Just installed "Cup Holder Light" it does make a difference. Procedure was simple. Only put a light on the right holder, the left cup holder has a lid. I'll be watching to see what you pull out of your bag of tricks next.
