Winshield wipers
My '97 Effie has a gremlin in the wipers. They work ok but the intermittent function acts whacky.If the truck is in park, they intermittent works ok. As long as i turn them on before I go to Drive, it does ok. But if I go to Drive before turning them on intermittently, they only work non-intermittently. Have I totally confused you guys? If anyone can understand what I'm saying please advise. Thanks.

Check around the posts, there's a lot of them that do that (including mine). I don't think there is any recall on them, and I'm out of warranty. So I guess when they quit I'll fix them

I think it is in the switch on the directional arm. I had 2 Taurus' that both did that. The intermittent would'nt work all the time in certain positions but if I just tapped the end of the directional arm or use the directional signals the wipers would activate. Sometimes they would shut off and return to the resting position. This was very annoying but I tolerated it. I do not have this problem (fingers crossed) with my '98 150. Hope Ford fixed it. Anyone from Ford engineering want to jump in here?

I just took my 99 into my local ford dealer, and they replaced the switch. I was told that they have been replacing them in almost all of F series, and SUV's. I was told on the phone that it was a recall , but when I went to get it done the service writer said it wasn't a recall, but it was replaced, keep in mind, im still under factory warranty, but it is worth a check.

This wiper prob isn't a recall its a TSB the # is 00-9-6
