2001 f150 supercrew xlt alternator, battery?

2001 f150 supercrew xlt alternator, battery?
v8 triton motor 157K
check engine light on a few weeks ago. new gas cap, cleaned carbon, injectors, replaced egr valve. so far so good.
friday a week ago the truck started losing power. R&R alternator last Saturday. ran well for a week.
This saturday the battery and abs lights came on, the battery guage went to H went driving down the road, went back to normal at stop light. Other than guages, power was good and no difference in driving down the road.
This morning the battery was dead as a door nail. replaced the battery tonight.
same lights and H on guage during test drive as before battery replaced. also started to sputter this time.
another bad alternator or something else?
