Question colored interior bulbs

I bought blue light bulbs for my doorpanel lights at my local o'reiley but I dont know where to find bulbs for the dome light becaus e they are fuse shaped. O'reiley has the regular fuse shaped bulbs but i am looking for a blue one. Can somebody tell me where to find a blue dome light bulb?

Cool

Never seen them, but I have seen this done before.

Go to a music shop and buy a blue gel for a spotlight. It is a plastic film that works with stage spotlights and can handle the heat. Then cut a piece to fit and tape it around your bulb.

Had a friend who did this and it looked really cool.

I too wanted to change the color of my dome light. I tryed the gels, they are visible during the day. I know that sound **** but it bothered me. What I did was color the bulb with a blue sharpie marker. It worked great. I did red first and the I simply changed it to blue. I just had to ge the red off, which was easy.
My brother did the same in his f150 only he mixed blue and red together to get a dark purple. It look kind of like a black light color. Best of all - it is simple, cheap, changable and not visible during the day time.

That sounds like a good idea. Doesn't it stink a little when it gets hot? I bought a blue bulb that didnt fit and rigged it with a wire so it does work but I'd much rather have a bulb that does fit. I'm going to try your idea but I'm still going to keep an eye out for colored bulbs.

No it doesn't smell at all. The only thing I have noticed is that is seems to fade / cook off over time. But that is really no big deal to me. I hope it works out for you.
I was thinking of changing my door panel lights to blue. How do you like yours? Where did you find the bulbs for your doors?

I bought my door panel bulbs at O'Reiley. They're in a blue package and made by wagner lighting. It's 194B Auto Bulbs and theyre really for instrument lighting but they're the same bulb as used in the door panel, only blue.

I was at Pep Boys today and they had colored interior dome lights (Blue and Red). The dome lights look very similiar to the one in my F150. I picked up a pack (Victor)for a try and they are to long by 1/16". I was hoping for good news, but not today.

Today, when I popped open the dome light the color had cooked off a bit. I just recolored it, looks fine. My sister says they have craft paint at her craft store that is heat resistant. A product they use to decorate ceramic lamps.... I will look into it further.

Let me know if you find anything. (We don't have O'Reily stores in MI that I am aware of.) Good Luck.

Pepboys should have those door panel lights too. The thing you told me about with the dome lights not fitting is exactl,y what i did but i left one side out of the holder and wired it in so it works but I don't feel comfortable with it. I'm going to keep looking and if I see anything, I'll post. Tell me if that heat resistant paint works any better that the sharpie.

Cool

Autozone had the dome lights you are looking for. It's bulb #211B. They also had Red ones too. I really like the effect it gives. The biggest problem is that the cargo light sort of overpowers it. I didn't check out the possibility of a blue cargo light. Hope this helps.

Really, what brand are the bulbs. When I went to autozone, they said they didnt have any and they directed me to pepboys and pepboys only had the "moodlights" that didnt fit correctly.

The manufacturer is Lighting Technologies. The bulb number is 211-2B. They are the correct length but with a slightly smaller diameter. I just squeezed electrical contacts slightly to make a tight fit. The store by my house had several packages. I guess if all else fails, I could mail you a package. Regards,
