If this is the switch that powers the coil on the relay, you can use the parking lamp circuit or the high or low beam circuit or a hot in run position circuit.
Depends on when you want to be able to turn them on.
Depends on when you want to be able to turn them on.
I got the power wire from relay to the battery. (Red - 30)
Then ran the yellow wire from the relay (86) to the switch.
Im in the same boat... what do I connect the switch to for power? Plan I putting the switch next to the Cigarette lighter, can i use power from that or no.
And do I need to use a inline fuse in between?
Am I to assume I didnt need to use the relay if not hooking up to the headlights or parking lights?

Same question for you, when do you want to be able to turn them on ?
With the parking lamps, only with the low beams, only with the high beams, ony with the key in the run position, or any time ?
This is 3 of the above :

No too sure off hand what install that you could do without the relay, any that I can think of require the relay.

100% with SSCULLY, except the switch is missing.

The third terminal on the switch (not shown in the drawing above) goes to ground, so the internal LED will light when the switch is turned on. If the LED is on even when the lights are off, then you've reversed the power IN and OUT leads.
You didn't mention which 500's you have (driving or fog). For driving lights, I wire them to come on only with the high beams. With fog lights, I like to wire them to come on with the parking lights. I will also usually install a second "normally open" relay in line with the switch, powered by an IGN wire, so the fogs then operate with the parking lamps, but only if the ignition is on.
If you want them to on with the parking lams and low beams, but turn off when the high beams come on, you'd also need a NC relay in line triggered to open with the high beam wire. (Let me know if you want a diagram of either setup.)

However since law here says you can only have 2 sets of lights running at one time I would like to have them switch off automatically (or not come on at all if the switch is turned on) if lows are on with the fogs.
Is this going to be a wiring headache?
Are these driving lights or fog lights? (I'm trying to figure out your logic in when you'll be using them.)
From your description, I take it you want the aux lights to operate any time the truck is running even if no factory lights are turned on, but not if the factory fogs are turned on with the low beams.
If this is the case, you would run a lead to your switch from a "+12V in RUN" wire. This wire, though, will have in line a N/C relay that will open when the fog lights are powered. (I'm assuming that they only operate only with the low beams, correct?)
I don't have an '04 wiring diagram, so someone else will have to chime in with wire colors and locations.

EDIT: And you should to use a relay in any case, due the the current draw of the lights.

They are the driving lights.
Want to Run them off a separate switch, even if no factory lights are turned on, and as long as the trucks key is in the 'on' position they would work, therefore no worrying about leaving on accidently.
Then..automatically switch off (or not be able to turn them on with the switch) if the headlights (low beams) are turned on with the factory fogs.
My Factory Fogs turn off when brights are turned on.
hope this helps

I assume that the factory fogs also do not work with the parking lights only. If this is true, then my suggestion above should work. Someone with an '04 diagram!manual will jhave to get you wire colors and locations. (Or you could just go and pick up a Haynes manual. It will come in handy, trust me.)

Edit: But I still don't quite understand why you don't just wire them to the high beams. That way they can't come on/stay on accidentally with your lows.

Ah, Ford must have listened to their customers' wishes. My '99's fogs worked with low beam only.
Well, it's still possible, it will just require another relay and added wiring. Really, though, I'd just wire them to your hugh beams and be done with it.
If you must have it the other way, I'll see about working up a sketch tomorrow unless someone else beats me to it... cough-cough-SSCULLY-cough.
