HVAC Control & Display not working

Need help. The display for the HVAC is not on and the backlights for the control seem to blink simultaneously while I hear a clicking sound from the dash when the headlights are on. This will do this even with the key off?? This has an auto HVAC control. Is this a body control module unit problem.... or just a temperature control panel problem?? Any thoughts? Please help!!

The last time a member posted similar symptoms, he removed the connectors from the back of the EATC control panel, and plugged them back in.
It worked after he did this, but no clue if it was long term.

These are what the connectors look like

The EATC panel is mounted on the center trim panel.

On the Center shift version, open the ash tray, and pull on each lower corner to release the spring clips.
There are 6 or 8 ( 3 or 4 on each side ) up to the top.
At the top, be careful not to pull to far, with the passenger airbag light wiring

After you remove and reinstall the connector, the HVAC panel wil be turned off.
