Power tap for LED

OK, every LED light I can find has a max voltage of 3.5-5V....The electricians I have asked all say that hooking up to a 12V system will fry the LED.

Where do you guys hook into for adding these interior LED's? I plan on installing them in my dome, map, under dash and dash vents (cool blue and red hot).

So, what circuit do I use? My truck is '01 SCREW Lariat. I have the factory wiring, so I can find the right wire and such. It's just that every circuit seems to be greater than 10V.

A little help here please.

You either need LEDs that are rated for 12 V or you need to add a resistor inline with the LED ( actual resistance level depends on the design of the LED ).

Might want to try a different source for interior LEDs.

exactly. you can buy 12 volt leds for the dome lights and under the dash you can get cathode kits from oznium.com and you can also find 12volt 3 or 5mm leds i know.,

check out my gallery for pics or if you want more let me know, i have every thing your wanting to do minus the vents (for now)

Thank you guys soooo much. I shoulda come to the experts in the first place! I will now go after 12V LED's.

SScully, the Hi/Lo wiring is going in later today. I will let you know how it goes.
