2001 F150 keyless entry system stopped working
Hello, I have search, but could not find my problem anywhere. Mods if this is in the wrong forum you may move it. I purchased a 2001 F150 Supercrew XLT last year. It came with one keyfob and I asked the dealer for a second. They could not get me one because it wasn't capable of being programmed. It turns out it is not the factory one in the owners manual, but a ford product. I purchased the keyfob online and programmed it, no problem. My problem is that yesterday the alternator died while I was driving around. I limp the vehicle to a parking lot and had it towed. The battery was dead dead. I replace the alternator and everything is fine except now the keyless entry does not work. I tried to go into programming mode and it does nothing. I check fuses and made sure everything under the dash was still connected. I am not sure if it is salvageable or if I should get it replace. My keyless entry enters programming by turning the key on and within 5 sec press and hold the valet button for about 20 sec, the locks are supposed to cycle, etc. I get nothing... I need to get under the dash again and make sure there is power going to it. I was just wondering if anybody can tell me what type of system this is. My manual says to turn the key 8 times and everything else, but that is not what the truck has. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
John

thanks SSCULLY,
I have just the keyless entry. I unplug the module and check for any loose wiring, I did not see anything. Well I plugged it back in and figured I would give it one more shot... Well it is working now. So when it gets warmer I will check over it more thoroughly and see if there is a bad or loose connection somewhere.
