Seat belt chimes while seatbelt secured

I have an '04 F150. For a week now the seat belt chimes even with the belt buckled up. Yesterday it only chimed for a bit and then the airbag dash light came on. I am assuming that there is some control module for both these systems.
1) has anyone else had this issue and figured out how to fix?
2) if there is a control module, where is it located and what is the part number/name of it

Thanks in advance,
Ralph

Is your 04 a new body style or a Heritage / Lightning ?

Did the Airbag light flash when you started the truck, or is just solid on ?

If it is solid on, the RCM is disconnected or inoperative. This is only the case of a SRS diagnostic tool finds no body DTCs.

Thanks for the reply.
It is a new body style not the Heritage/Lightning.

The Air bag light flashed a few times, paused a couple of seconds and then flashed a few times repeated a few more times. Then it stayed solid.

Tonight it went back to just chiming every minute for about 10 minutes. The Air bag light did not come on.

It really seems like some system is not working properly. What is the RCM and where is it located?

What was the flash count ? It will be in a 2 digit number.

Don't think that is your seat belt chime.

Well the Seat belt chime stopped again and the Flashing Air bag came back. The 2 digit code is 42.

LFC 42 is some what common, it is the Front Impact Sensor

This is the impact sensor up front by the temp probe on the center radiator support.

Could be the connector for it, but usually it is the circuit board in the impact sensor that is corroded.

Disconnect the battery & turn on headlamps ( without the battery hooked up ) for 5 min , prior to doing any work.

Start with checking the connector, if it looks OK, next thing is a new front impact sensor ( don't want to take this apart prior to having the repalcement ).

Here is a thread that another member did on the topic:
https://www.f150online.com/forums/el...tc-42-fix.html

The part number I have for it is 6L3Z-14B004-AA , check with any newer revisions of it before ordering. It is ~ 38.00 + Ship to replace.

Just to complete this thread. Replacing the front impact sensor solved the seat belt chime and the airbag flash code 42.
