Did you try to pull the release, and pull up on the brake pedal ?

I sometimes catch my pant leg on the brake pedal and it clicks 1 notch and sets the light.

This is if you are sure the brake fluid is full.

BTW did you have recall 05S28 done ?

The recall is for the leaking cruise control secondary safety switch.

This is the one where it can leak, and cause a high resistance load, igniting the brake fluid that has leaked out, igniting the whole truck.

Check the Ford site to see if you VIN still shows the recall as open, if it is, unplug the factory harness and zip tie it up, until you can get to a dealer ( Cruise won't work, but it will not light on fire either ).
