Ok so I know the answer is rip everything out and start fresh but I am wondering if anyone can help with the lighting for roof top light bar. There seems to be 3 wires coming out of it and into the car. Two of the same heavy wires and another thinner blue wire. The blue wire is positive and guess what when I touch the blue with either of the wires it just sparks and is ready to melt almost instantly. The prior owner had a bunch of electric done by SAL THE BUTCHER and I was wondering is there any trick to these highbar lights or should I just go out and buy 5 fog lights that will bilnd people?

 

Why are you crossing the wires together ?
You need the device inline, else it is a dead short.

From your description, it sounds like there is no fuse on that wire, so yes best to take it all out, and start over with a proper install with fuses and relays to operate the lamps.

 

for some reason the wires coming from the light bar are powered but I can not see anywhere that they are getting power from. Ive had mostly chevys is the electrical the same or am I missing something?

 

Let me clarify, you are talking about a light bar on the truck, as in aftermarket accessory ?

If this is the case, does not matter what truck it is on, it is the guy who put it on.

If you have power coming from the light bar, sounds like they did something to it for that function for some reason.

Still hung up on you can melt the wires, this means no fuse in it.

Tear it out and start over. It will be much quicker in the end. You will have to find where all this is terminated at, to pull it all out.
