A/C Clutch
A/C Clutch
My AC clutch fuse blows almost every time I start moving. I have E-fans set up with one of them routed through the AC clutch relay but I'm pretty sure that's not what is blowing it. The fans worked for a good year with no issues and I've even removed the main 30V fuse from the fan controller with no success. Is this a bad AC clutch or is it still possible that the fans are causing the fuse to blow?
What do you mean by "one of them routed through the AC clutch relay" ?
quick test, remove the fan relay coil that is triggered by the a/c clutch, and see if the problem still happens.

One of the fans has the controller wired to the clutch fuse. When the clutch turns on, so does the fan. Like I said, it worked fine for at least a year and then this started happening. I think it's got to be either the fan turning on that overloads the circuit or a bad AC clutch but I have no electrical background so I don't know how to 100% diagnose it without having a mechanic look around and potentially make it worse.

Which fan controller is it ?
When you pulled the 30A fuse for the fans, did they still try to start up ?
What I was getting at was removing the trigger wire from the fan controller that is connected to the AC clutch circuit. It should be a small wire attached to it.
The trigger wire should not be able to draw enough current through the AC clutch circuit, so separating it should isolate which end the problem is one. The trigger to the fan controller from the AC clutch should have less than 1A draw on it.
