I was just passed down a 1998 Ford F-150 (yea!) from my older brother...got it home and after sitting out a couple of days the battery was dead...hooked up a battery charger to re-charge the battery but as soon as I do, the theft alarm starts trying to activate with lights flashing and horn trying to honk (both weak since its a dead batt) tried locking the doors, using the panic and other buttons on the key remote, but nothing shuts it off...question, how to get it turned off, or if I have to wait till the battery charges enough for the alarm system to be deactivated, and will the battery ever get fully charged if the alarm is still going off...any suggestions appreciated, thanks!

 

Is it the factory alarm, or aftermarket ?

 

charge the battery separate from the truck for starters.

what does the alarm sound like? You think its factory or aftermarket?

pretty sure its a factory alarm, the key chain control looks like the one in the user manual, sounds like the horn is sounding, though its a weak sound, and the 'theft' light in the console flashes inside the truck...

 

I'd try charging the battery with the truck disconnected, and try and see what happens once its charged again.

On my Ford Alarm on my truck i get one honk upon reconnecting the truck back to the battery, always makes me jump a little
