Fast Blinker
Fast Blinker
My left turn signal blinks faster than norm some times. It has been coming and going for the past month or so. It might do it on one left turn on the way to work and then work fine for the next two. Some times I can go a few days with it working fine. I never adjust the steering wheel position. When blinking fast both the front, rear, and side directional lights up.
Any ideas what it could be?

I have a similar problem in my 2000. Mine will flash too quickly, and sometimes even get stuck after the indicator lever is back in the center position (as in blinker off). On mine, I know it has something to do with the hazard flasher button in the center of the steering column. Whenever the blinker gets stuck, or flashes too quickly I just put a light pressure on the hazard button and it'll stop. It rarely happens so I haven't investigated further, but maybe yours has to do with the hazard button as well.

You can try cycling the hazard switch a few times, to see if it helps ( could be too far gone ) , but I would be thinking of finding time to replace it, as this will also be causing problems with your stop lamps in the tail lamp housings.
That sounds like dirt / corrosion in the contacts in the MFS.

it is the problem with having the hazard light button on the top of the steering column. dirt and grime gets in there and messes it up. just replace the button and all should be fine. it is actually the company that makes the button that has the problem. cheap parts....pretty sure its from china or japan, could be wrong but definitely not american. my uncle told me about it but i cant remember the name. he was changing the butoon on my aunt's 96 taurus because it was messing with something.
