New Alternator Time?

I am the orginal owner of a 2000 F-150 Lariat with about 71,000 miles. Last year the battery died on my wife and new baby while I was out of town and I learned decided I wanted to be more proactive on replacing some items. I am debating on replacing my alternator at the moment....have a big 2000 mile round-trip drive coming up for the holidays and thinking it'd time. Would like to get others thoughts if possible. Thanks

why not rent a car and keep the miles off your truck? we go to Florida every year. its 1000 miles each way.we always rent a car. i like enterprise. make sure you get unlimited mileages.
