2005 f150 xlt supercrew power window problem

Hi folks I'm new to this forum but have already solved a problem with the fan motor resistor so thanks for that. the next problem is the toggle for the drivers power window. for the last month or so it has worked slowly or intermittently while raising the window. now i cant even press it down to raise window its like there is something blocking its downward range also how do you remove the armrest to get at the controls? thanks in advance for your help.

To remove the master switch control panel.

1. On the 2006 + it is this way, on the 04-05 I have been told this is not needed : Remove the silver speaker grille from around the arm wrest. This is clipped into the door. Start with a plastic trim removal tool ( or plastic putty knife filed down to ~ 0.75" wide ) on one side, at an angle to the door, slide behind the silver plastic, and pry up.
Work you way around the silver grille, enough times, and the grille will come out.

2. Using the plastic trim tool ( or modified putty knife ) starting at the outside edge of the panel, slide under and pry up. Work you way around the outside of the triangle shaped panel, there are tabs holding the panel down on the door side.

At this point, un hook the switch connectors, and release the tabs holding the switch to the panel.

Let me know if you need pictures, I have been meaning to make a how to on this for some time, it does come up every xx months.

Diagrams are in my 2004-2008 album

There is a How to Thread on repairing the LEDs that also covers cleaning the contacts on the switch for symptoms similar to yours.

The How To forums, accessible via the F150 home page ( towards the bottom ) or the same forum is access via the Technical Articles link in the menu at the top of the page ( medium gray menu bar, right below the word unofficial
