RAP? 1998 what performs the RAP function in 1998 F150
I have a 1998 F150 XLT 4.6 Super cab Offroad A couple of things do not work Can't get the auto lock feature to work! Have the instructions but the horn chirp does not happen. So my guess is the auto-lock feature is not getting to the program mode. Also can't program the remote entry. Spent an hour in the truck and had 2 other people try but can never get the chirp to know it is in the program mode. Battery in remote is good but cannot get to program mode. Does the Remote Anti-theft Personality (RAP)exist in 1998 or is the another module that doe sthe same thing exist? I believe if this module does not work the 2 functions won't work either. PLEASE Help!!!!
Thanks in advance for the help

The module tasked with these circuits is actually the GEM (Generic Electronic Module) The RAP is actually a sub-circuit of the GEM.
Before getting into a dissertation about the much hated GEM;let me say that the problem probably lies with a bad or dirty relay within the GEM. There are probably two or more relays that should be replace, or serviced
In your truck the GEM is the module within the cabin where the IP Fuses are placed. The GEM circuit sits atop that Fuse/Relay Panel.

RAP (Remote/Anti-theft Personality) was an option that included remote entry and the autolock. If installed, the module will be up above the GEM and the CJB. If not installed, your efforts are in vain.
If your instrument cluster has a red THEFT light that flashes when the truck is secured, you have the option installed.

Project:
If so I stand corrected. I don't have enough documentation directly onto the RAP, but several of the relays driven by the RAP to the GEM are located in the CJB which is the GEM (on most models)
BTW:
Do you know of ,or have you seen any direct documentation for the 1998 GEM?

Cell 59 of the EVTM has quite a bit of documentation on the GEM.
Is this not what you are talking about ?
Cell 117 documents the RAP ( for build dates up to 2-OCT-00 ) and in the 2001 EVTM covers the RAP and the CSM on 5 pages.
Not sure what you are looking for.
The electronics group section of the shop manual might have more detailed info ( don't have that with me at the moment ), that might have more descriptions on the GEM and RAP.
