Elec. System Beginner - Adding 2nd Battery

Hey guys,

Sorry if this has been asked before but I wasn't sure of what terms to search for. I looked around but couldn't find anything too specific.

I'm clueless as to what I'll need to buy or do. I want to add a second battery so I can run my radio while I tailgate. Right now it doesn't last very long on the stock battery.

My question is what battery type do you guys recommend (deep-cycle?) and how would I go about wiring it up specifically for the radio? If you need specs on the system I'll get those asap.

Thanks for the help and again sorry if this has been asked before. If you guys have any recommendations for websites to read up on specific to this please post them.

Thanks!

Fuse the W/Pu wire from that diagram to your HVAC blower switch (or some other circuit) so it's hot only in RUN & ACC. Use 8-10ga wire between the battery (+) posts and a 30-40A Bosch/ISO relay with a matching fuse at EACH battery.

If you have some empty positions in your fuse block, read thru these captions:
