More power window issues

Hey guys and gals,

Well a buddy of mine at the fire station is having some issues with his 2005 FX4 crew cab. None of the power windows are working, except when the door is open at a certain angle. When you push the switch with the door closed, or at any other angle, the map lights dim, and none of the windows work.

I've tried searching this and a few other forums and have come up empty handed. I know there seems to be problems with the master switch up in the driver side door.

Any thing else I should check for?

Thanks in advance

look for a broken wire in the door to A-pillar harness.

Sounds real similar to this thread :

Worth a check, considering the window works fine at a specific opening angle, I would not suspect the switch itself ( that is door position independent ) right now.

PS : Sorry you are having such a bad run of luck lately, being a FF, you should have karma points galore.

Thanks a ton Sscully, this helps out a lot. I had a feeling the problem was something along these lines but I didn't want to just go fishing in wire loom for a broken wire. Now that I have that write up I'll take a look at it some time tonight.
