I replaced My 2000 Lariat F150 Door Lock Actuators over the past few years with e-bay purchased ones. They have seemed fine and acted "crisply" at locking at unlocking. About 6 month ago I started going through very intermittant times where neither door lock would work. I would here the relays clicking under the dash, but no locking or unlocking. I was not able to duplicate the problem because the problem would go away after I turned the truck off after a drive. Recently the problem came back and its here to stay. The following are current symptoms/conditions:
- Interior lock buttons inop. Can here a relay click under dash when locking/but not when unlocking.
- Remote Buttons also do not activate locks...can here clicking when try to lock from remote under dash (Not Unlock). The remote does beep the horn, turn on off the interior lights (Think this rules out the remote system?)
- I can here the relay click to lock the doors when the truck is in gear and starts to move.
- The locks seems to unlock themselves. More then a few times I was positive both doors were locked and I would come out the next morning and they would be unlocked. (I since have pulled the PDL fuse-Phantom unlocking stopped)
Currently I am leaning towards replacing both ebay/China actuators with the newer designed Ford OEM actuators on the belief there is some sort of short/malfunction in one of the actuators themselves. I am looking to the door lock pro's to see if the agree or have any other recomendations. Thanks
