Eyelet on starter cable broke, replace entire wiring harnes

On one of the cables to my starter, the eyelet broke. I've completely removed the entire harness, going all the way up to the battery and firewall.

Do I have to replace this entire harness or can I cut the protective sheathing and replace just the offending cable that it broke on? Assuming that that can be done.

Thanks in advance.

GL

I replaced just the battery terminal on my harness, spliced and soldered it together.

Ford wanted 160 bucks for the whole engine bay power and ground harness.

I would just replace the end of it as long as the cable itself isnt all corroded to hell too.

Just remember when you tighten it back up that you wont have the locking tab to keep the terminal from spinning around as the nut gets snug.

Cable seems to be good, just a little dirty. I'll give that a shot. Thx big time. BTW, did u see my other post about the starter?

It's original starter with 150K. Think I should replace that since I've got it 1/2 taken apart already? Or maybe at least the selenoid?

i would replace it with a quality part if you have extra money right now, and keep your stock one just in case

this is the replacement i used on my truck, I know they sell a flat terminal with a hole in it that you could use.

I would just get a new cable at autozone and leave it at that. A cheap starter at autozone is almost $200 and they use the cheapest possible parts. Who is to say the rebuild will last longer than what is in there. I would avoid repairing it as it is the wire is only $10 there and then you know the terminal is on there good. The replacement terminals come loose sometimes and that is an area exposed to the elements. I kept getting an intermittent BB start that turned out to be a corroded and broken terminal. There was the slightest amount of copper holding a connection.

I think you would be safe to just clean it up real nice and repair it. Unless like patman said, the actual wire is all corroded as well.
