Power door locks and key remote
Power door locks and key remote
Hi, Recently my 98 f150 was at the for dealership because my starter motor had to be replaced. When I got the truck back the power door locks don't work with the remote control, but they work from the switch on the door. I looked through all the fuses and one fuse was blown, ah ha I figured, but no luck, replacing that fuse didn't help. Any thoughts on what I should look at next?
I did just get the the truck back and will contact the dealership on Monday, but I'm so used to locking the truck with the remote I've unknowingly left it unlocked several times.
Thanks for any help!
Ron

If you tried more than 1 remote, next step is to reprogram them.
Tech might have been screwing around with the ign switch, and accidentally programming mode, erasing all the remotes ( this is what happens when you enter programming mode for RKE ).
Have both ( all ) of your remotes when you go to program it.
The timing on turning the key can be picky, so if it does not enter the 1st time try again. It took me 3 times to get into programming mode on my 2001, and it did not seem like I did it any different any of the 3 times, but some how I did as it worked on the 3rd try.

jsvo5695, yes, the battery works, thx.
SSCULLY, of course I didn't put in all the info that I should have. The remote is a remote starter / alarm system, I'm sure it's aftermarket, but have no idea which brand. When the alarm was armed the locks used to lock, when disarmed the locks would unlock. I tried the info you detailed above and was able to get into programming mode, but trying each button on the 4 button remote resulted in no confirmation lock/unlock. I tried it a ton of times with no success.
Any other thoughts?
Thanks again!

hmm, so I'm wondering something, when I press the arm or disarm button, the alarm does beep, but is there something else needed to be done to make it lock / unlock the door... man, I apologize, I've left so much detail out of my original inquiry...
Check your owners manual if there is a procedure for changing the battery.
The dealer I am sure unhooked it, so if there is a procedure that needs to be followed after the battery change, this could be the cause of it.
The directions I gave you were the Ford RKE fobs.
You should find a programming button for the Code Alarm RMST / Alarm.
My Ford Silver RMST has a programming button, and it is a Code Alarm product OEM'd by ford.
